Ze besluiten op zoek te gaan naar de waarheid en erachter te komen of het mysterie omtrent 2012 een doemscenario is, een self-fulfilling prophecie of een overgang naar een betere wereld, geregisseerd door een legioen Engelen. Ondanks de ogenschijnlijk zware materie krijgen zij het voor elkaar om tijdens de spirituele zoektocht met beide benen op de aardse grond te blijven staan. Dit zorgt voor hilarische momenten waarin de zelfspot niet geschuwd wordt. Op hun zoektocht komen ze erachter dat zowel de kalenders van de Maya, de Hopis en de Egyptenaren als wel de I-tjing en de berekeningen van de gebroeders Mckenna alswel vele, vele religies deze tijd aanduiden als een moment waarin de mensheid ergens doorheen gaat. Maar wat? Zal het de broers lukken om een antwoord op de vraag te vinden of het 't einde is van de wereld of dat we aan de vooravond staan van het paradijs op Aarde?
